Tylenol Liver Damage Attorneys

Denver Acetaminophen Liver Injury Lawyers

Tylenol is one of the most commonly used over-the-counter medicines for standard aches and pains. It’s taken often to reduce fever or relieve pain, but it turns out that the active ingredient, acetaminophen, can cause serious damage to your liver.

Acetaminophen overdose is the leading cause of acute liver failure in the nation. More than 57,000 people visit the emergency room each year with liver injury related to Tylenol and acetaminophen use. Of those individuals, about 28,000 are hospitalized and 500 die from their injuries.

If you have suffered acute liver damage or liver failure and you think that it may be due to Tylenol poisoning or an acetaminophen overdose, contact an experienced Tylenol side effects attorney. The Denver dangerous medicines attorneys with The Los Angeles Auto Accident Attorneys understand the legal issues associated with Tylenol and acetaminophen use. The FDA’s Actions

In January 2011, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) informed Johnson & Johnson and other large drug manufacturers that they had to limit acetaminophen doses to 325 milligrams for all prescription medications. Drug makers were also ordered to include the most severe drug warnings on all prescriptions containing acetaminophen. Some popular prescription drugs such as Vicodin and Hydrocodone contain 400 to 750 milligrams of acetaminophen.

Standard over-the-counter Tylenol has 200 to 500 milligrams (extra strength Tylenol) in each tablet or capsule. People often pop two or three capsules at a time, several times a day – quickly adding up to dosages in the danger zone.

Legal Options After Acetaminophen Poisoning or Liver Failure

While the FDA is continuing to investigate the risks of acetaminophen, many individuals find themselves sick after simply taking normal amounts of over-the-counter medication containing acetaminophen.
